National Innovation and Science Agenda (NISA)

On 7 December 2015, the Commonwealth Government unveiled a $1 billion plan to foster greater innovation across 11 different Government portfolios. Through the National Innovation and Science Agenda the Government will invest to incentivise innovation and entrepreneurship, reward risk taking, and promote science, maths and computing in schools.


Economics and Industry Standing Committee – Inquiry into Technological and Service Innovation in WA

The Western Australian Legislative Assembly Economics and Industry Standing Committee announced an inquiry on 4 July 2015 into Technological and Service Innovation in Western Australia. TIAC provided a submission to this important inquiry.


ACSRF Information Session 18 August 2015

On 18 August 2015, TIAC in collaboration with the Federal Department of Industry and Science held an information session on the Australia-China Science and Research Fund (ACSRF) to assist with applying for the 2015 round of the Joint Research Centres (JRC).


STEM WA Pilot Program Proposal Finalised

On 31 August 2015, the finalised STEM WA Pilot Program Proposal was made available on the TIAC website. This document makes several references to the foundational role of the TIAC Report,Optimising STEM Education in WA Schools Part One and Part Two and to the work of the consulting team led by Mark Hackling. This proposal aims to reinvigorate STEM education in Western Australian schools and reverse declining trends in participation and standards.


TIAC STEM Report Finalised

On 30 June 2014 the finalised TIAC STEM report was made available on the TIAC website. This marks the completion of a two year project with the strategic aim of strengthening the teaching of science and mathematics in Western Australian primary and secondary schools.


TIAC Breakfast Event Great Success

Upcoming TIAC STEM breakfast event

TIAC is currently undertaking a research project with the strategic aim of strengthening the teaching of science and mathematics in Western Australian primary and secondary schools. To support the project, TIAC will hold a breakfast event on 25 June 2013. The breakfast will be hosted by Professor Lyn Beazley AO, Chief Scientist of Western Australia, and will be launched by the Hon. Peter Collier, Minister for Education.


TIAC participates in Innovators Forum

In February this year, the Innovation Centre of Western Australia (ICWA) in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, coordinated a forum to discuss the challenges of bringing a new product or service into commercial reality. The discussion provided an opportunity for TIAC members to exchange ideas and inform advice on how to assist innovators to commercialise opportunities delivering economic benefits for Western Australia.
